1. Where to Buy Madden NFL 12?

Get Madden 12 For $20 Cheaper on Amazon
Last season, Amazon.com gave $20 back to everyone who pre-ordered Madden NFL from them, and this season they are doing it again. The special offer didn’t last long last year, so if you intend to buy Madden NFL 12 this season then it might be a good idea to pre-order it from Amazon as soon as possible. Previously, the $20 deal was extended to everyone who had already pre-ordered and only a few that pre-ordered after the announcement.

The Madden 12 release date is currently slated for August 30th, a bit later than traditionally seen.

2. Madden NFL 12 Cover Athlete

• The Madden 12 cover athlete will be voted upon by fans over the course of three months in a “March Madness” inspired tournament bracket.

3. Madden NFL 12 Features

• Surprise Onside Kicks & Tuner Sets
The first two Madden NFL 12 features announced, gamers will be able to execute surprise onside kicks in Madden 12 and perhaps more importantly, game updates will be made much easier with the addition of “Tuner Sets,” which is a feature used in other EA Sports games to allow updates to be applied more regularly. Without a persistent need to go through the lengthy approval process of mediums like Xbox Live and the Playstation Network, fans can expect Madden 12 patch updates to arrive in a much more timely fashion.

• Custom Playbooks
According to the latest teaser video (see below), Madden 12 will feature custom playbooks. Although we do not yet know the extent of the feature, we are expecting that in the very least this will allow users to customize their playbooks based on formations that include several plays, if not the individual plays themselves.

• Team Mascots
First teaser footage of Madden 12 briefly showed Tennessee Titans mascot “T-Rac” escorting his team out onto the field. We are now expecting team mascots to finally be apart of the game, although we do not know if their presence will be limited merely to entrances, or if they will be seen on the sideline and at half time as well.

• New Team Entrances
As a byproduct of the mascot reveal above, we’re expecting teams to have more authentic entrances this season.

• Spectator Mode?
The first teaser video for Madden 12 showed what appeared to be some sort of game cast or spectating lobby, with “open” spots reserved for players to (we think) watch or see play-by-play of games in progress. We await further details to clarify this feature.

• Legendary Player Cards
Walter Payton was seen on what appears to be a Madden Ultimate Team card in the first Madden 12 teaser video.

• Dynamic Player Ratings
Player ratings will rise and fall in Madden 12 franchise mode in part due to their play, allowing players to achieve “hot streaks” or “cold spells” that impact their ratings accordingly.

• Player Tendencies
The first Madden 12 teaser video clearly showed individual player tendencies, including different catching tendencies such as “Ball Hawk.” If this is as it appears, this could be a great way to help further differentiate players beyond their ratings, or provide players with more strategy options to tinker with if they are changeable.

• Improved Collisions
Perhaps the biggest gameplay improvement to Madden 12 is its new collision system, which hopes to make “suction tackles” a thing of the past. Along with fine tuning tackles so that they don’t start to occur until actual contact is made, the new tackling system is also said to finally allow more than one player to influence a tackle, as well include a better representation of momentum-based collisions. This also includes consecutive-hit tackling, which Executive Producer Phil Frazier told us should greatly reduce the ‘tumbleweed’ tackle problem.

• Enhanced AI
Madden 12 will feature over 100 enhancements to its artificial intelligence, including substantial improvements to zone coverage. The computer will now be able to “hand off assignments,” among other things.
