Breaking Down Richard Sherman’s Madden 15 Cover
Richard Sherman and Cam Newton were locked in a cover vote for Madden NFL 15 for nearly a week, but you didn’t need a crystal ball to predict who would come out on top. While Newton inched past every opponent in the first few rounds of the voting tournament, Sherman absolutely blew out his opposition. The result? The Madden 15 cover is coming to Seattle, so to speak.
Sherman is perhaps the most polarizing figure in the NFL today. There are some players who absolutely love his in-your-face, let’s-have-some-fun attitude, while others will tell you he’s the worst thing to ever happen to the NFL and personifies the me-first attitude of a generation of athletes that are over-privileged and overpaid. Over the last day of interacting with fans on social media, I’ve even come across some who swore if Sherman won the cover, they wouldn’t be buying the game this year (we’ll see how long that promise lasts).
Personally, I think Sherman is a great character in the NFL, and an even better player. Sports, at the end of the day, are about entertainment and there are few as entertaining as Seattle’s most talented cornerback. It also helps that in a sport that has evolved into an offense-heavy world, Sherman helped lead a young group to a dominant defensive-driven Super Bowl — further proving once again, that defense wins championships. While that is an age-old adage, it’s somehow refreshing to see it still alive and well.
In honor of Sherman’s big Madden 15 cover, I put together a short infographic for Madden & Seahawks fans. Congrats to Madden 15′s highest rated player Richard Sherman! And congrats Seahawks fans!
